حَطَطناwe alighted بمَعنىat the meaning of خالدKhalid بنson of سِنانِSinan
حَطَطنا بمَعنى خالد بن سِنانِ
لنَحظىso that we may gain بهthrough him منsome of أسهُمٍarrows وسِنانِand a spearhead
لنَحظى به من أسهُمٍ وسِنانِ
We alighted at the meaning of Khalid ibn Sinan,
We camped with the eternal meaning of Khalid ibn Sinan
To gain through him arrows and a spearhead.
To attain from him arrows and spears
أخالدُO Khalid منكfrom you َالوُدُّaffection أصبحَhas become خالداًeverlasting
أخالدُ منك َالوُدُّ أصبحَ خالداً
لدىwithin خلَديmy mind بَلindeed فيin صميمthe innermost core of جَنانيmy heart
لدى خلَدي بَل في صميم جَناني
O Khalid, your affection has become everlasting
O Khalid, your love has become eternal for me
Within my mind—indeed, in the very core of my heart.
In my heart, rather in the core of my soul
أخالدُO Khalid هَلis there ليfor me للحَرامَينِto the two sanctuaries وَصلَةٌa connection
أخالدُ هَل لي للحَرامَينِ وَصلَةٌ
أنَعَّمُI may delight منهاfrom it فيin فسيحthe wide expanse of جَنانيmy heart
أنَعَّمُ منها في فسيح جَناني
O Khalid, is there a way for me to the two sanctuaries,
O Khalid, can I have a connection to the thieves
Through which I may rejoice in my heart's wide expanse?
To benefit from it in my vast paradise
أخالدُO Khalid مَنwho ليfor me أنthat أفوزI attain بحَجَّةٍa pilgrimage
أخالدُ مَن لي أن أفوز بحَجَّةٍ
لهاit has حُجَّةٌa proof فيin البِرِّrighteousness ذاتُpossessing يَدانِtwo hands
لها حُجَّةٌ في البِرِّ ذاتُ يَدانِ
O Khalid, who will help me attain a pilgrimage,
O Khalid, who can I win an argument with
Whose proof of righteousness is endowed with two hands?
That would have evidence in righteousness and helping hands
أخالِدُO Khalid هَلis there ليَّfor me زورَةٌa visit لمُحَمَّدٍto Muhammad
أخالِدُ هَل ليَّ زورَةٌ لمُحَمَّدٍ
نبِيٍّa prophet سَماrose high عَنbeyond مُشبِهٍone resembling him ومُدانِand one approaching his rank
نبِيٍّ سَما عَن مُشبِهٍ ومُدانِ
O Khalid, may I have a visit to Muhammad,
O Khalid, can I have a visit to Muhammad
A prophet exalted beyond any likeness or near-equal?
A prophet who rose above the blasphemers and the condemned
عليهupon him صلاةُthe blessing of اللَهِGod ماfor as long as حنَّyearns
عليه صلاةُ اللَهِ ما حنَّ
شائقُone yearning الجوانِحِthe ribs منfrom among قاصٍone far away إليهtoward him ودانِand one nearby
شائقُ الجوانِحِ من قاصٍ إليه ودانِ
Upon him be God's blessing, so long as there yearns
Upon him, Allah's prayers as long as the passionate souls yearn
One with longing ribs, far away or near, for him.
And the loving hearts incline towards the beloved
