Then, when Sulayman appeared among them at that moment,

    And Ibn Dhakwan cried out, men rose up;

Muhammad guided the bewildered out of error,

And Bilal called to prayer at the Ancient House.

And Abu Imran rose to mend her rift,

With striving that cleared error away from his guidance.

A minister—whenever the king takes his judgment as adviser,

Cords are twisted for him in times of calamity.

Nor is he like an unlucky man among the people, a bringer of ill luck,

Who grew so haughty that it was said, 'He cannot be reached.'

He was aided by wealth whose very substance he depleted,

And ignorant rabble, commoners, and lowlifes raised him high.

He has an ill-omened heel; never has he accompanied a man with it

Throughout time without that man being sent back a mere phantom.

For in every age of his life,

Thrones are toppled, or mountains are crushed.

He is the disease: root him out, and you will wear her beauty.

And the malady of the heels of those who bring ill luck is incurable.
