إِذا لَم تَجِدْ إِلا الأَسى لكَ صاحِباً

إِذا لَم تَجِدْ إِلا الأَسى لكَ صاحِباً

فَلا تَمنَعنَّ الدَّمعَ يَنهلُّ ساكِبا

فَلا تَمنَعنَّ الدَّمعَ يَنهلُّ ساكِبا

If you find none but sorrow as your companion,

When you find naught but grief to be your friend,

Then do not hold back the tears as they pour and flow.

Then let your tears flow freely without end.

هَوَت بِأَبي العَباسِ شَمس من التقى

هَوَت بِأَبي العَباسِ شَمس من التقى

وأَمسَى شَهابُ الحَقِّ في الغَربِ غارِبا

وأَمسَى شَهابُ الحَقِّ في الغَربِ غارِبا

A sun of piety sank with Abu al-Abbas,

The sun that shone on Abul 'Abbas now sets,

And at dusk the meteor of truth was setting in the west.

And the star of truth declines into the west.
