Look at the state the ruins have come to.
Look how the ruins have now become,
And let your tears pour down across the horizons.
And let your tears flow freely in the horizon.

Stand like a grieving man in their dwellings,
Stand mournfully in their dwellings,
And weep for what your earliest days once gave.
And cry for the days of your youth that have passed.

By God, a dwelling emptied of its people and effaced!
A quarter is empty of its people and covered in dust,
Thought is engrossed in one part of it, distracted from another.
Distracted, one part from another.

وتستبيح دمى الأحداج والإبل
A chant that accompanied departure melts me with grief,
Yearning melts me, the cooing of the companions,
And the howdahs and camels lay claim to my blood.
And my tears flow freely.

واضلعي بلهيب البين تشتعل
The day the companions left it at midmorning, I found myself
The day became one that people avoided at dawn,
With my ribs blazing in the fire of parting.
And my ribs blaze with the fire of separation.

Halt the howdahs of your pale camels, O drivers of departure,
Stand firmly, O pillars of the dwellings,
That I may pour out to them the longing of one whose recourse has failed.
I confide to you a longing that has exhausted my efforts.

وللحداة بوادي وجرةٍ زجل
Whatever I forget, I shall not forget when they set out before dawn,
I do not forget, I cannot forget, when they packed up at night,
And the camel-drivers' chanting rang through the valley of Wajra.
And the pillars had a valley and chant.

O you departing with my heart and my inmost heart together,
O you who left with my heart, and my soul too,
I have a hope in you—if only that hope would come true for me.
If hope avails me, my hope is towards you.

There, and say: a stranger, far from home,
In it and say a stranger displaced
Has come to dwell in the West, with all paths barred to him.
In the west has become, and the paths to him are blocked,

His soul yearned for the land of Tayba, so he turned
To a good land his soul longed for, so it bent
To its remembrance.
With the memory of it.

Why not, when a master dwelt there, encamped,
Why not, and in it settled a master,
To whose excellence the angels and messengers bear witness?
By his grace the angels and the messengers bear witness.

Intercession on the Day of Gathering has been bestowed upon him,
He has the intercession on the Day of Gathering, he granted
While terrors and dread envelop humankind.
And people, terrors and fears have gathered them.

The lofty rank of Abu al-Qasim, whose bounty is praised,
Most high, my father Al-Qasim, the praiseworthy one,
Is a rank joined to the mysteries of the secret of the Truth.
Exalted in the secrets of the secret of truth he connects.

Through it, the lights of the sun of guidance shone for us.
By it the lights of the sun of guidance illuminated us
And whoever says otherwise is deranged.
And whoever says other than this is crazed.

He is the one whose glory has surpassed every lofty rank,
He is the one whose pride has surpassed all highness,
So he has neither peer nor likeness among humankind.
So he has no equal in the world.

And love of him has not ceased curing illnesses.

Upon him, whenever a fragrant salutation,
A camel hastens on its journey toward a dwelling on its high ground.
Traveling to the melody of its meadow adorned.
