I see the cupbearer of rainstorms has intoxicated the branches,
I see the clouds' water-bearer has made the twigs drunk,
And the meadow, a sky of blossoms, has brought forth shooting stars.
And the garden of the sky has blossomed with meteors.

The pouring rain clouds gave them a thirst-quenching cup,
It gave it a draft of pure wine from the pouring rain,
So they leaned, swaying in their thickets with self-admiration.
So it swayed, bending in ecstasy with wonder.

And gray doves sang there before dawn,
And the leaves of doves sang to it at dawn,
Their lament leaving no wits in anyone burning with longing.
So none of its complaints to the suffering heart remained.

They exchange their cooing among the spreading arak trees,
It whispers in the bosom of meadows its murmur,
And lament passions that stir yearning within them.
And complains of the zephyrs that stir it at dawn.

They trill melodies among its branching boughs,
It returns melodies in the rhythms of its twigs,
So the eye's tears, in their downpour, resemble clouds.
Relating the tears of the eye in its drifting clouds.

A moist breeze blew with the fragrance of blossoms,
A night breeze blew in the flower bed,
And passed, its inhalation reviving the dense groves.
Passing by, bursting through its thickness.

It trailed the hems of its cloak over the hills,
It dragged its train on the dunes,
Its breath filling the horizon and the soil with fragrance.
Its cool breath perfumed the horizon and the soil.

So we said: It has carried the fragrance of remembrance of the Prophet;
We said: The scent of the Prophet has passed through it,
Otherwise, what is this heady scent that has wafted forth?
Else, what is this alertness that blew in it?

A noble Prophet, whose lofty rank is sublime,
A noble prophet, exalted is his value,
And he surpassed non-Arabs and Arabs [unclear phrase: 'as, to extol him'].
His glory surpassed, as the non-Arabs and Arabs vie to eulogize him.

Before him the sun and moons bow in awe,
The sun and moons yield to his awe,
And why not, when that light has torn through the veils?
Why not, as that light rent veils apart?

The scent of praise for him has indeed perfumed the horizons,
The fragrance of his praise has scented the horizons,
Just as his signs have encompassed the East and the West.
As his signs enveloped East and West alike.

The souls of those endowed with understanding were entranced by his love,
The souls of the wise were perplexed with love of him,
Enraptured with longing for him, they submitted to him in love.
So they became passionate for him and submissive in their love.

A tormenting longing for him has indeed worn me thin;
Yearning for him cured me, euphoric,
By God, what tears streamed down my cheek in torrents!
So for God, my tears poured down my cheeks in my fervor.

If they should lead me to that sweet halt.

And replace the barrenness of their life with abundance.
And replace their barren livelihood with fertility.

Will mend a heart torn apart by separation's plunder.

In the shade of their love our souls find song,
And in their encampment, souls withered by drought revive.
And in their neighborhood revive souls dried of sap.

Every ailing soul they restored beyond hope

Upon them, God's peace, for as long as the lovesick
For them, hastens his journey, and seeks the caravan's aid.
Yearn for them, spur on the journey, and seek the company of riders.
