Is there any hope of reunion after separation,

So I may see the company of your companionship reunited in a gathering?

Oh, would that I knew, with the dwellings far away:

Will what has passed from us at Rāmah return?

Since you left, I have a plight, and the account of its course,

O you who have gone afar, is inscribed upon the borders.

A liver—we melt with sorrow over separation—

And inner ribs and ribs are set ablaze with grief.

[Unclear fragment]—God's is what separation has snatched away; yet—

What can I do against the decree of fate?
