يضرِب دون الوِصال بالحُجُبِ
O one who offers himself, while the down on his cheek
O you who feign affection though you spurn me,
sets up veils to bar union.
And raise a barrier to deny our tryst,
أَنْبتَّyou have made grow منهfrom it لسُلوَتيfor my forgetting you سبباًa reason
أَنْبتَّ منه لسُلوَتي سبباً
ياO هاجريyou who forsake me قبلbefore ذاthis بلاwithout سببِa reason
يا هاجري قبل ذا بلا سببِ
You have made a reason for me to forget you sprout from it,
For my distress you gave me cause enough,
O you who deserted me before this without a reason.
My flight preceded any cause for this.

So face, because of it, rejection by everyone attached to you:
So break with him who severs every bond,
this is an eclipse at the tail's node.
Misfortune ties the knot of guilt so tight.
