أَوَ ما ترى طرب الغدير

أَوَ ما ترى طرب الغدير

إِلى النسيم إِذا تحرّكْ

إِلى النسيم إِذا تحرّكْ

And do you not see the pool's delight

Do you not see the pond’s delight

at the breeze when it stirs?

When breezes stir its surface bright?

بل لو رأَيت الماء

بل لو رأَيت الماء

يلعب في جوانبه لَسَرَّكْ

يلعب في جوانبه لَسَرَّكْ

Nay, if you saw the water

And water playing round its banks

playing along its edges, it would surely delight you.

Would cheer you with its pranks.

وإِذا الصَّبا هبّتْ عليه

وإِذا الصَّبا هبّتْ عليه

أَتاك في ثوبٍ مُفَرَّكْ

أَتاك في ثوبٍ مُفَرَّكْ

And when the east wind blows upon it,

When dawn wind blows across its face

it comes to you in a rumpled robe.

It comes to you in rippled grace.
