ولم يبق حب الغيد لي غير مهجة

ولم يبق حب الغيد لي غير مهجة

وقلب فقد ضاع في الحب من يدي

وقلب فقد ضاع في الحب من يدي

And love of the graceful maidens has left me nothing but a soul,

Nothing remains of the love of the young women except my innermost being,

And a heart—for in love it has slipped from my hand.

And a heart that was lost to love from my hands.

فيا مهجتي لم يبق غيري فأذهبي

فيا مهجتي لم يبق غيري فأذهبي

وكل قرين بالمقارن يقتدي

وكل قرين بالمقارن يقتدي

So, O my soul, no one but me remains; so depart.

So my innermost being, none remains for me but you, so be gone!

And every companion follows his companion’s example.

And let each companion follow the example of his fellow.
