كالشمسlike the sun فيin حللrobes منof الدمسdarkness
And a down-cheeked youth, the surfaces of whose cheek
With apologies, pages of paradise
are like the sun in robes of darkness,
Like the sun in robes of sunset

ليلاat night لماbecause of what شاهدتI beheld منof انسىmy delight
greeted me; I said, 'The sun has indeed risen
When alive I said the sun has risen
at night!' at the sight of my delight.
At night when I saw your radiance
فعجبتso I marveled منat شمسa sun بدتappeared بدجواin darkness
وبقيتand I remained فيهabout it مراجعاconsulting نفسيmyself
So I marveled at a sun appearing in darkness,
I wondered at a sun that shone at night
and kept consulting myself about it.
And lingered there consoling my soul

Then he began to say, 'Is that a cause for wonder?
Tomorrow he says, is that a wonder?
Marvel at this matter in reverse:
More wondrous is this matter in reverse

بوجنةon a cheek كالليلlike night فيwithin الشمسthe sun
look at the miracles of the cheek-down, appearing
So look to the miracles of the beloved
on a cheek, like night within the sun.'
Who appeared with a paradise like night in daylight
