يُبقِ في المَجدِ وَالمَحامِدِ ذِكرا
You have not died; only he has died who has not
You did not die. Rather, he who did not leave
left a remembrance in glory and praiseworthy deeds.
In glory and in praises any mention died.
لَستُI am not مُستَسقِياًseeking rain لِقَبرِكَfor your grave غَيثاًrain
لَستُ مُستَسقِياً لِقَبرِكَ غَيثاً
كَيفَhow يَظماthirst وَقَدتَضَمَّنَwhile it has enclosed بَحراa sea
كَيفَ يَظما وَقَدتَضَمَّنَ بَحرا
I seek no rain for your grave.
I am not begging from your grave any rain.
How can it thirst when it holds a sea?
How can it thirst, while it contains an ocean?
