أُختانِtwo sisters إِحداهُماone of them إِذاwhen اِنتَحَبَتshe sobs
أُختانِ إِحداهُما إِذا اِنتَحَبَت
تَبكيshe weeps كَباكٍlike a weeper بِدَمعَةٍwith a tear حَرّىburning
تَبكي كَباكٍ بِدَمعَةٍ حَرّى
Two sisters—when one of them sobs,
Two sisters, one of whom if she weeps
she weeps as a weeper does, with a burning tear;
Cries with hot tears like a mourner
وَماand no بِهاin her صَبوَةٌpassionate longing وَلاnor حَزنٌsorrow
وَما بِها صَبوَةٌ وَلا حَزنٌ
تَضحَكُshe laughs مِنهاat her لِدَمعِهاbecause of her tears الأُخرىthe other sister
تَضحَكُ مِنها لِدَمعِها الأُخرى
yet she feels neither longing nor sorrow;
Yet feels no torment or grief
the other laughs at her because of her tears.
