This is the parting I had feared.

His she-camels have been brought forward for departure.

And I hold back my eye's tears out of fear,

yet tears outrun me, and I catch up with them.

My blood flows as tears for you; how often

my eye's weeping shows, and I steal it away!

A young gazelle whom beauty clothed in its robe of honor,

and its radiance flowed across his cheeks.

Welcome, welcome to the Imam, for he has

dispelled the darkness and lit the place of his rising.

    سَعدٌ يُصَبِّحُهُ وَيَطرُقُهُ

    A full moon descended into his mansions;

good fortune greets him at dawn and visits him by night.

The abode of kings rejoiced in him, for it

almost raced ahead of him to meet him.

And for that reason his dwellings had been

spurning their inhabitant and unsettling him.

O best of those toward whom riding-camels are driven,

and whose pledge twists tight the covenant's cord.

The rein of kingship now lies loose

in your hands: you restrain it and release it.

So rule: the world and its inhabitants are yours.

No arrow you shoot has gone astray.

Peerless—what is right is dictated to

his judgments by a Lord who grants him success.

The throne stands firm, though once it trembled,

and his head bears aloft the crown of kingship.
