They said I had fallen ill; ask after me and how I fare.
They said I grew ill, so ask about me and my news.
Did I not spend the night weeping, tasting no sleep?
Did I not spend nights weeping, unable to close my eyes in sleep?
قولواsay لِمَكتومَto Maktum ياO سَمعيmy hearing وَياand O بَصَريmy sight
قولوا لِمَكتومَ يا سَمعي وَيا بَصَري

عَلَّمتُ جَسمِيَ مِن أَجفانِكَ المَرَضا
Say to Maktum: "O my hearing and my sight,
Say to those concealing their knowledge, O my hearing and sight:
From your eyelids I taught my body sickness."
I taught my body illness from your blinks.
