ذاتَ دَلالٍ في طَرفِها مَرَضُ
There is no life save in a cupbearer's hand,
No life except by the toil of the water-drawer's arms
Full of coquetry, with languor in her gaze.
A water-skin with sickness in its strap-handle as if, when she loosens her arms,
كَأَنَّas though فيin الراحِthe wine حينَwhen تَمزُجُهاshe mixes it

As though in the wine, when she mixes it,
Stars of pearl plunge through the air and descend.
Stars of pearl were falling and sinking.
