قَدindeed نَتَنَhas reeked المَجلِسُthe gathering place مُذsince جِئتَناyou came to us
فَكُلُّso everyone مَنwho مَرَّpasses بِهِby it يَبصُقُspits
The gathering place has reeked since you came to us,
The gathering has stunk since you came
so everyone who passes by it spits.
So all who pass by spit
فَغَذَّso feed إِبطَيكَyour two armpits وَأَشبِعهُماand sate them both
فيin الصَيفِsummer بِالمَرتَكِwith litharge (lead oxide) ياO أَحمَقُfool
So feed your armpits and sate them both
Feed your armpits and let them feast
in summer with litharge, you fool.
In summer with sweat, you fool
وَلاand do not تَقُلsay ماno فيهِماin them both حيلَةٌa remedy
فَالحَشُّfor the privy قَدmay يُكنَسُbe swept out أَوor يُطبَقُbe covered over
And do not say, "There is no remedy for them,"
Don’t say they’re out of tricks
for a privy can be swept out or covered over.
For rubbish can be swept or covered
