نَفسِ كوني ذاتَ خَوفٍ
وَاِتِّقاءٍand caution وَاِجتِنابِand avoidance
وَاِتِّقاءٍ وَاِجتِنابِ
O my soul, be fearful,
My soul is one of fear
And cautious, and keep your distance.
And caution and avoidance
لاdo not تَظُنّيthink الناسَthe people ناساًhuman beings
لا تَظُنّي الناسَ ناساً
أَيُّwhat أُسدٍlions فيin الثِيابِthe clothes
أَيُّ أُسدٍ في الثِيابِ
Do not take people for human beings—
Do not think people to be people
What lions they are in clothes!
