No wonder if his cheek’s beauty spots have turned
No wonder his cheeks were aflame,
To embers, for fire from his cheek has touched them.
Though his steed and lance remained the same;

Verses of beauty are inscribed upon his cheeks;
On his cheeks were writ beauty's scriptures plain,
Their fifth- and tenth-verse markers are beauty spots.
In dots and marks, not mere lines of strain.
