فَاِقدَح لَنا النارَ بِالمُدامِ

Night has already grown dark, O my two boon companions;

The night has fallen dark, my friend

So kindle a fire for us with wine.

So pass the wine cup round again

كَأَنَّنا وَالوَرى رُقودٌ

كَأَنَّنا وَالوَرى رُقودٌ

نُقَبِّلُ الشَمسَ في الظَلامِ

نُقَبِّلُ الشَمسَ في الظَلامِ

As though we, while all humankind sleeps,

Acting as though the world's asleep

Are kissing the sun in the darkness.

We kiss the sun amidst the dark
