Many a praiseworthy night have I spent awake,
How many blessed nights I have lived
That came with the most auspicious omen, never ill-omened.
That brought the happiest fate that never soured

White and moonlit, it was greeted by its dawn,
White and moonlit was their dawn
And its robes, amid the darkness, remained unstained.
With clothes untouched by any stain

And Mars blazed among its stars,
Mars flickered amongst its stars
Like a yellow daisy in a garden of narcissi.
Like a tulip in a garden of narcissus

Its bliss and joy were made complete
With the dearest visitor and the most delightful gathering.
By the sweetest visitor in the finest gathering

The drinking companion did not do justice to its cup of wine:
Regret was not just to the wine cup
It laughed at him, yet its sun wore a frown.
For its sun laughed at it with a frown
