وَلاحَ الشَيبُ وَاِفتُضِحَ الخِضابُ
Life has passed, and reproach has ceased.
Life has passed and reproach has ceased
And gray hair has appeared, and the hair dye has been exposed.
Gray hair has appeared and the dye is fading
لَقَدindeed أَبغَضتُI have hated نَفسيmyself فيin مَشيبيmy old age
لَقَد أَبغَضتُ نَفسي في مَشيبي
فَكَيفَso how تُحِبُّنيshe loves me الخَودُthe tender maiden الكِعابُthe budding-breasted maiden
فَكَيفَ تُحِبُّني الخَودُ الكِعابُ
Indeed, I have come to hate myself in my old age.
I have truly hated myself in my old age
So how can the tender maiden with budding breasts love me?
So how can the plump-cheeked one love me
