    Leave a drinking companion who has gone far away and been confined.

    And pour me a drink, and drink wine like a flame.

    My heart is smitten with a graceful maiden.

    Around her are swords in the guards' hands.

    She does not sleep at night for love of me, and if

    the turtledove sings, she visits in the darkness before dawn.

    وَإِذا ما فَطَنوا قالَت تَعَس

    And she calls my name whenever she stumbles;

    And when they notice, she says, "Woe to him!"
