لِغَيريto someone other than me وَتَخفىand remain hidden بَعدَafter ذاكَthat الحَقائِقُthe truths
It is sorrow enough that, in my words, I give thanks
Enough with sorrow, for with my words I'm thankful
To another, while afterward the truths remain hidden.
To others, though afterward truth's obscured
وَجَلَّand he is exalted فَماso not أَجزيهِI repay him إِلّاexcept بِشُكرِهِby thanking him
فَياso, oh لَيتَهُif only he يَدريknows بِأَنِّيَthat I am صادِقٌsincere
And he is exalted, so I repay him only by thanking him;
Exalted is He whom I cannot reward
Ah, if only he knew that I am sincere!
Except with gratitude, if only He knew I'm sincere
