قَد وَجَدنا لِغَفلَةٍ مِن رَقيبِ

قَد وَجَدنا لِغَفلَةٍ مِن رَقيبِ

وَشَرِقنا لِنَظرَةٍ مِن حَبيبِ

وَشَرِقنا لِنَظرَةٍ مِن حَبيبِ

Indeed, we found an opening through a watcher's lapse,

We found negligent a lack of supervisor

And were breathless at a glance from a beloved.

And arose for the glance of a lover

وَرَأَيناهُ تَمَّ وَجهاً مَليحاً

وَرَأَيناهُ تَمَّ وَجهاً مَليحاً

فَوَجَدناهُ حُجَّةً في الذُنوبِ

فَوَجَدناهُ حُجَّةً في الذُنوبِ

And we saw him, perfect in his lovely face,

And we saw Him perfect of face and beautiful

So we found him an excuse for sins.

So we found Him proof against sins
