بِفَناءِ مَكَّةَ لِلحَجيجِ مَواسِمٌ

بِفَناءِ مَكَّةَ لِلحَجيجِ مَواسِمٌ

وَالياسِريَّةُ مَوسِمُ العُشّاقِ

وَالياسِريَّةُ مَوسِمُ العُشّاقِ

In Mecca's precincts, pilgrims have their festivals;

In Mecca's courtyard, pilgrims have seasons

And al-Yāsiriyyah is the lovers' festival.

And Al-Yasiriyyah is lovers' season

ما زِلتُ أَنتَقِدُ الوُجوهَ بِنَظرَتي

ما زِلتُ أَنتَقِدُ الوُجوهَ بِنَظرَتي

نَقدَ الصَيارِفِ جَيِّدَ الأَوراقِ

نَقدَ الصَيارِفِ جَيِّدَ الأَوراقِ

I keep appraising faces with my gaze,

I have not stopped critiquing faces with my gaze

As money changers assay fine silver coins.

Like money changers appraise quality banknotes
