شُغِلتُ بِلَذَّةِ القُبَلِ

وَوَعدِ الكُتبِ وَالرُسُلِ

I was absorbed in the pleasure of kisses,

I was busy with the joy of kisses

and the promise conveyed by letters and messengers,

And the promise of books and messages

وَمَعشوقٍ يُواصِلُني

وَمَعشوقٍ يُواصِلُني

بِلا وَعدٍ وَلا عِلَلِ

بِلا وَعدٍ وَلا عِلَلِ

and a beloved who keeps me company

And a lover who keeps in touch with me

without an appointment or excuses.

أَتى عَجِلاً يَطيرُ بِهِ

جَناحُ الخَوفِ وَالوَجَلِ
