أَناI ياO قَومُpeople مِنbecause of فُؤاديmy heart وَطَرفيand my eye
أَنا يا قَومُ مِن فُؤادي وَطَرفي
فيin أُمورٍtroubles تَجِلُّare too great عَنfor كُلِّall وَصفِdescription
في أُمورٍ تَجِلُّ عَن كُلِّ وَصفِ
I, O people, because of my heart and my eye,
O my people, from my heart and my gaze,
am in troubles beyond all description.
In matters too sublime for any description,
مُقلَتيmy eye تورِثُbequeaths الهُمومَsorrows فُؤاديmy heart
مُقلَتي تورِثُ الهُمومَ فُؤادي
وَفُؤاديand my heart بِالدَمعِwith tears يَكلُمُwounds طَرفيmy eye
وَفُؤادي بِالدَمعِ يَكلُمُ طَرفي
My eye bequeaths sorrows to my heart,
My eyelids bequeath anxiety to my heart,
and my heart wounds my eye with tears.
And my heart converses with my gaze through tears.
