He spent the evening talking to me, so I said to my companion:
Last night it conversed with me, so I said to my companion:
Is he speaking, or relieving himself through his mouth?
"Is it a talker, or is there talk coming from its mouth?"
ياO وَيحَalas for رَيحانٍsweet basil نُحَيِّيهِwe greet him بِهِwith it
يا وَيحَ رَيحانٍ نُحَيِّيهِ بِهِ

وَالوَيلُ لِلكَأسِ الَّتي نَسقيهِ
Alas for the sweet basil with which we greet him!
Oh, the fragrant basil we revive with it!
And woe to the cup from which we give him drink!
But woe to the cup we serve it in!
