Give me wine in the youth of the day,

and banish my care with heady, aged wine.

The bright stars have departed, and already

the bird of the predawn hours has heralded the dawn.

Do you not see heaven's bounty upon the earth,

and the gardens' gratitude for the rains,

and the birds' singing every morning,

and the predawn hours breaking open with light?

So it is as though spring unveils a bride,

and as though we were amid bridal gifts strewn by its rain.
