  1. عَجوزٌ تَصابى وَهيَ بِكرٌ بِزَعمِها

    وَمُذ أَلفِ عامٍ قَد وَجى خَدَّها الواجي

    An old woman plays at youth, a virgin by her own claim.

    And a thousand years ago, the striker had already struck her cheek.

  2. تَرى مَشيَها تَحتَ القِناعِ كَأَنَّهُ

    ضَفائِرُ ليفٍ في هَدِيَّةِ حُجّاجِ

    You see her gait beneath the veil as though it were

    Braids of palm fiber in a gift from pilgrims.
