اِشرَبDrink فَقَدfor indeed دارَتِhave gone round الكُؤوسُthe cups
وَفارَقَتand have left يَومَكَyour day النُحوسُill omens
Drink, for the cups have gone round,
And ill omens have left your day.
فيin كُلِّevery يَومٍday جَديدُfresh رَوضٍa garden
عَلَيهِupon it دَمعُtears النَدىof the dew حَبيسُheld captive
Each day there is a fresh garden,
Upon it the dew’s tears lie captive.
وَمَأتَمٌand a mourning assembly فيin السَماءِthe sky يَبكيweeps
وَالأَرضُand the earth مِنfrom تَحتِهِbeneath it عَروسُa bride
And a mourning assembly in the sky weeps,
While the earth beneath it is a bride.
