أَسرَعَ البَردُ هُجوماً

أَسرَعَ البَردُ هُجوماً

فَأَرانا عَجَبا

فَأَرانا عَجَبا

The cold was swift in its assault,

and so showed us a marvel:

أَخمَدَ النارَ وَلَم تُط

أَخمَدَ النارَ وَلَم تُط

فَأ فَصارَت ذَهَبا

فَأ فَصارَت ذَهَبا

it quenched the fire, yet it did not go

out, and so it turned to gold.
