وَالدَهرُ يَمزُجُ مَعسوراً بِمَيسورِ
Do you not see that time's wonders never end?
Do you not see, time's wonders never end,
And time mingles hardship with ease.
And time mingles sorrow with happiness.
وَلَيسَand there is not لِلهَمِّfor sorrow إِلّاexcept شُربُdrinking صافِيَةٍclear wine
وَلَيسَ لِلهَمِّ إِلّا شُربُ صافِيَةٍ
كَأَنَّهاas though it were دَمعَةٌa tear مِنfrom عَينِthe eye of مَهجورِone forsaken
كَأَنَّها دَمعَةٌ مِن عَينِ مَهجورِ
And there is no remedy for sorrow but drinking clear wine,
There is no remedy for grief but a cup
As though it were a tear from the eye of one forsaken.
Of pure wine, as if shed from the eyes of one abandoned.
