I complain to God of my love for a young gazelle,
who now has an excuse for shunning me.

If he comes at night, the night grows bright; and if
he comes in the morning, he adds to its light.
فَكَيفَso how أَحتالُcan I contrive إِذاwhen زارَنيhe visits me
فَكَيفَ أَحتالُ إِذا زارَني
حَتّىso that يَكونَmay be الأَمرُthe affair مَستوراconcealed
حَتّى يَكونَ الأَمرُ مَستورا
So how can I contrive, when he visits me,
to keep the affair concealed?
