تَعالَواcome, all of you نَزُرlet us visit قَبرَthe grave of السَماحَةِgenerosity وَالعُلىand eminence
تَعالَوا نَزُر قَبرَ السَماحَةِ وَالعُلى
وَلاand not نَعتَذِرwe apologize مِنfor دَمعِtears of عَينٍan eye عَلىupon خَدِّa cheek
وَلا نَعتَذِر مِن دَمعِ عَينٍ عَلى خَدِّ
Come, let us visit the grave of generosity and eminence.
Come let us visit the grave of magnanimity and loftiness
And let us not apologize for an eye’s tears upon a cheek.
And we need not apologize for tears that flow down the cheek
لَقَدindeed عِشتَyou lived لَمdid not يَعلَقcling بِعَقلِكَto your mind ذامَةٌa blemish
لَقَد عِشتَ لَم يَعلَق بِعَقلِكَ ذامَةٌ
وَمُتَّand you died عَلىin رُغمِspite of المَحامِدِpraiseworthy virtues وَالمَجدِand glory
وَمُتَّ عَلى رُغمِ المَحامِدِ وَالمَجدِ
Indeed, you lived, and no blemish clung to your mind.
You lived such that no blemish stained your reason
And you died despite your virtues and glory.
And you died despite praises and glory
