You have gone on too long and tormented me, O reproacher.

I am afflicted, so leave me be; my tale runs long.

My love is a love both hidden and manifest,

Old and new, subtle and grand.

So what ails this night, that it will not end?

Thus every lover’s night is long.

I spend the night keeping vigil with the full moon of darkness,

Until dawn, alone, while my tears flow.
