عَذَلتُI reproached بَنيthe sons of عَمّيmy paternal uncle وَطابَand was sweet بِهُمconcerning them عَذليmy reproach
لَعَلَّهُمُperhaps they يَوماًone day يُفيقونَcome to their senses مِنfrom جَهلِignorance
I reproached my cousins, and found my reproach of them sweet,
Hoping they might one day awaken from ignorance.

Healthy, save for diseased minds—
And how many are sound of body, yet devoid of reason!
