لَعَمرُكَby your life ماnot أَزرَتdetracted بِيوسِفَfrom Yusuf لَحيَةٌa beard
لَعَمرُكَ ما أَزرَت بِيوسِفَ لَحيَةٌ
وَلَكِنَّهُbut he قَدindeed زادَincreased حُسناًin beauty وَأُضعِفاand was doubled
وَلَكِنَّهُ قَد زادَ حُسناً وَأُضعِفا
By your life, a beard has not detracted from Yusuf.
By your life! No beard was worn by Joseph
Rather, his beauty has indeed increased and doubled.
But he did gain more beauty and charm
فَلاso do not تَعتَذِرapologize فيfor حُبِّهِloving him فيupon اِلتِحائِهِhis growing a beard
فَلا تَعتَذِر في حُبِّهِ في اِلتِحائِهِ
فَماfor not يَحسُنُlooks beautiful الدينارُthe dinar إِلّاexcept مُشَنَّفاornamentally rimmed
فَما يَحسُنُ الدينارُ إِلّا مُشَنَّفا
So do not apologize for loving him now that he has grown a beard.
So do not make excuses in loving him or seeking him
For a dinar is beautiful only when ornamentally rimmed.
For gold is only beautified when minted and stamped
