أَياO مَنthe one who حُسنُهُhis beauty عُذرُthe excuse for اِشتِياقيmy longing
أَيا مَن حُسنُهُ عُذرُ اِشتِياقي
وَيَحسُنُand seems fair سوءُthe wretchedness حاليof my condition فيin سِواهُsomeone other than him
وَيَحسُنُ سوءُ حالي في سِواهُ
O you whose beauty excuses my longing,
And my wretched state seems fair in anyone else.
أَعِنّيhelp me بِالوِصالِthrough union فَدَتكَmay ... ransom you نَفسيmy soul
أَعِنّي بِالوِصالِ فَدَتكَ نَفسي
فَقَدfor indeed بَلَغَhas reached الهَوىpassionate love بيwith me مُنتَهاهُits utmost limit
فَقَد بَلَغَ الهَوى بي مُنتَهاهُ
Help me through union—may my soul be your ransom—
For love has carried me to its utmost limit.
