وَمَنطِقَةٍand a girdle شُدَّتwas fastened بِخَصرِaround the waist of مُعَذِّبيmy tormentor
وَمَنطِقَةٍ شُدَّت بِخَصرِ مُعَذِّبي
وَقالَتand it said لِهَذاto this الشُدِّfastening لَستُI am not أَحورُreturning
وَقالَت لِهَذا الشُدِّ لَستُ أَحورُ
And a girdle was fastened around my tormentor’s waist,
And it said, “I shall not return to this fastening.”
وَقَدand indeed ضاعَwas lost مِنّيfrom me الخَصرُthe waist مِنfrom فَوقِabove رَدفِهِhis rump
وَقَد ضاعَ مِنّي الخَصرُ مِن فَوقِ رَدفِهِ
وَلاand no عَجَبٌwonder أَنّيthat I عَلَيهِaround it أَدورُcircle
وَلا عَجَبٌ أَنّي عَلَيهِ أَدورُ
The waist above his rump has indeed eluded me,
And no wonder that I circle around it.
