إِشرَبdrink وَاِسقِand give drink to اِبنَson of بِشرٍBishr مِنsome of مُشَعشَعَةٍradiant wine diluted with water
إِشرَب وَاِسقِ اِبنَ بِشرٍ مِن مُشَعشَعَةٍ
كَأَنَّas though فيin حانِهاits tavern نوراًlight بِلاwithout نارِfire
كَأَنَّ في حانِها نوراً بِلا نارِ
Drink, and give Ibn Bishr some radiant, diluted wine,
As though its tavern held light without fire.
دامَتit remained ثَلاثينَthirty حَولاًyears فيin مَعاصِرِهاits winepresses
دامَت ثَلاثينَ حَولاً في مَعاصِرِها
تُسامِرُit keeps company by night with الدَهرَTime فيin طينٍclay مِنَof القارِpitch
تُسامِرُ الدَهرَ في طينٍ مِنَ القارِ
It remained thirty years in its winepresses,
Keeping Time company by night in pitchy clay.
