قَدindeed مَضىhas passed آبُAugust صاغِراًabased لَعنَةُthe curse of اللَGod (word begins here)
قَد مَضى آبُ صاغِراً لَعنَةُ اللَ
هِ(completes the word “God”) عَلَيهِupon it وَلَعنَةُand the curse of اللاعِنيناthose who curse
هِ عَلَيهِ وَلَعنَةُ اللاعِنينا
August has passed, abased—may the curse of God
August has passed humbled, curse of God be upon it
be upon it, and the curse of those who curse.
And curse of those who curse it.
وَأَتاناand has come to us أَيلولُSeptember وَهوَwhile he يُناديcalls out
وَأَتانا أَيلولُ وَهوَ يُنادي
الصَبوحَmorning wine الصَبوحَmorning wine ياO غافِليناheedless ones
الصَبوحَ الصَبوحَ يا غافِلينا
And September has come to us, calling out:
September came calling,
Morning wine! Morning wine! O heedless ones!
Awake, awake o heedless ones!
