قَدat times أَغتَديI set out at dawn وَاللَيلُand the night قَدalready تَقَضّىhas passed
بِزَورَقٍwith Zawraq أَرخىlet loose بِهِwith him وَاِنفَضّاand he broke away
At times I set out at dawn, when night has already passed,
The night has passed, gone is its darkness
With Zawraq, let loose and breaking away.
In a boat I embarked when it was set loose
لَمّاwhen حَمَلناهُwe carried him أَرادَhe wanted الفَرضاthe allotted share
أَنَلنَthey granted بَعضاًsome وَمَنَعنَand they withheld بَعضاًsome
When we carried him, he wanted his allotted share.
When we started to move it rushed headlong
They granted some and withheld some.
Giving some leeway, denying the rest

He races through the air of the sky at full speed,
Galloping in the open air
With two flapping wings that beat vigorously,
With flapping wings breaking free
كَماas رَأَيتُI saw الكَوكَبَthe star المُنقَضّاplunging
فَأَطعَمَso he fed القَومَthe company شِواءًroast meat غَضّاtender
Like the plunging star I saw,
As I've seen a shooting star
And so he fed the company tender roast meat.
It fed the people tender meat
