وَقالوا لِم بَكَيتَ دَماً وَدَمعاً

وَقالوا لِم بَكَيتَ دَماً وَدَمعاً

وَقَد لاقَيتَ بَعدَ العُسرِ يُسرا

وَقَد لاقَيتَ بَعدَ العُسرِ يُسرا

And they said, “Why did you weep blood and tears

They asked, "Why do you cry blood and tears

when you have found ease after hardship?”

When after hardship you found ease?"

فَقُلتُ لِفَرحَتي بِرِضاهُ عَنّي

فَقُلتُ لِفَرحَتي بِرِضاهُ عَنّي

بَكَيتُ عَلَيهِ ياقوتاً وَدُرّا

بَكَيتُ عَلَيهِ ياقوتاً وَدُرّا

So I said, “For joy at his being pleased with me,

I said, "From joy at His pleasure with me

I wept over him rubies and pearls.”

I wept rubies and pearls over Him."
