وَظاهِرَةٍand visible فيin نِصفِthe middle of شَهرٍa month لِمَنto whoever يَرىsees
وَظاهِرَةٍ في نِصفِ شَهرٍ لِمَن يَرى
وَلَكِنَّهاand yet she مَكتومَةٌconcealed آخَرَat the end of الشَهرِthe month
وَلَكِنَّها مَكتومَةٌ آخَرَ الشَهرِ
And she is visible at mid-month to whoever looks,
A phenomenon half way through the month, for those who can see
Yet she is concealed at the month's end.
Yet concealed the rest of the month,
تَداخَلُshe mingles فيin لَيلِthe night of المِحاقِthe dark of the moon بِمِثلِهِwith its like
تَداخَلُ في لَيلِ المِحاقِ بِمِثلِهِ
وَتَضحَكُand she smiles عَنrevealing دُرٍّpearls وَتَسقيكَand gives you to drink مِنfrom خَمرِwine
وَتَضحَكُ عَن دُرٍّ وَتَسقيكَ مِن خَمرِ
She mingles in the moonless night with its like,
Mixing on the night of conjunction with its like,
And she smiles, revealing pearls, and gives you wine to drink.
Laughing at pearls and serving you wine.
