لِلمُكتَفيfor al-Muktafi دَولَةٌa reign مُبارَكَةٌblessed
لِلمُكتَفي دَولَةٌ مُبارَكَةٌ
عاشَlived بِهاthrough it الناسُthe people بَعدَafter ماthat ماتواthey died
عاشَ بِها الناسُ بَعدَ ما ماتوا
Al-Muktafi has a blessed reign.
The content lives a blessed life,
Through it, the people lived after they had died.
Where people lived after they died.
يَلوحُgleams مِنfrom تَحتِbeneath تاجِهِhis crown قَمَرٌa moon
يَلوحُ مِن تَحتِ تاجِهِ قَمَرٌ
وافىarrived بِهِwith him لِلسُعودِfor good fortune ميقاتُan appointed hour
وافى بِهِ لِلسُعودِ ميقاتُ
A moon gleams from beneath his crown.
Under his crown, a moon shines bright,
The hour appointed for good fortune brought him.
He came to power at the right time.
خَليفَةٌa caliph لاnot يَخيبُis disappointed سائِلُهُhis petitioner
خَليفَةٌ لا يَخيبُ سائِلُهُ
سُرَّتwas gladdened بِهِby him الأَرضُthe earth وَالسَمَواتُand the heavens
سُرَّت بِهِ الأَرضُ وَالسَمَواتُ
A caliph whose petitioner is never disappointed.
A caliph who grants every request,
The earth and the heavens were gladdened by him.
The earth and heavens by him are blessed.
ماnot وَلَدَتhas borne هاشِمٌHashim لَهُto him شَبَهاًan equal
ما وَلَدَت هاشِمٌ لَهُ شَبَهاً
مِنfrom أَينَwhere مِنfrom أَينَwhere مِثلُهُhis equal هاتواbring, all of you
مِن أَينَ مِن أَينَ مِثلُهُ هاتوا
Hashim has borne no equal to him.
No Hashimite can to him compare,
Where, where is his equal? Bring him forth!
From where, from where, who is his peer?
