I spent the finest day and night in bliss,
The cup going round among us amid radiant youths,
بِكَفِّin the hand of غَزالٍa gazelle ذيwith عِذارٍcheek down وَطِرَّةٍand a forelock

In the hand of a gazelle with cheek down and a forelock,
And two temple-locks like two qāf letters at the ends of a written line,
لَدىbeside نَرجِسٍnarcissus غَضٍّfresh وَسِدرٍand lote trees كَأَنَّهُas though it were

Beside fresh narcissus and lote trees, as though they were
The figures of maidens leaning in green waist-wraps.
