أُترُجَّةٌa citron قَدindeed أَتَتكَhas come to you بِرّاًas a kindness
أُترُجَّةٌ قَد أَتَتكَ بِرّاً
لاdo not تَقبَلَنهاever accept it إِذاif بَرَرتاyou are kind
لا تَقبَلَنها إِذا بَرَرتا
A citron has come to you as a kindness.
A translator has brought you goodness
Never accept it if you are kind.
Do not accept her if she justifies herself
لاdo not تَقبَلَنever accept بِرَّهاits kindness فَإِنّيfor indeed I
لا تَقبَلَن بِرَّها فَإِنّي
وَجَدتُI found مَقلوبَهاits reversed form هَجَرتاyou deserted
وَجَدتُ مَقلوبَها هَجَرتا
Never accept its kindness, for I
Do not accept her goodness, for I
have found its name reversed to read: 'You deserted.'
Have found her heart filled with abandonment
