Many a kindness, for which I thanked the sons of Wahb,
Became apparent to me, though I had not found my way to it.

يَدُ صُنعٍ مِنهُم تَرُدُّ يَدَيهِ
And many an enemy seeks to kill me, but
A hand of kindness from them turns back his two hands.

Many a sweet excuse you rejected and condemned,
And bitter loyalty you patiently endured.
