يا أَيُّها الرَجُلُ الشَقِيُّ الخائِبُ
How did you come to suffer his stalling and his promise,
How you have been afflicted by his procrastination and his promise,
O wretched, disappointed man?
Oh you unfortunate, disappointed man.
عَساكَmay you لاnot تَشغَلoccupy مُناكَyour hopes بِوَعدِwith the promise of مَنone

مَن وَعدُهُ خَلَقُ السَرابِ الكاذِبُ
May you not occupy your hopes with the promise of one—
May you not busy yourself with the promise of one
One whose promise is the false, threadbare fabric of a mirage.
Whose promise is like a deceptive mirage.
